Even if you're not an artist, which most of us are not, you must think of your face as a beautiful canvas and you need to get good at painting it. Let's face it, you only get one face in this life and in order to put your best foot and face forward it's worth learning how to accentuate your greatest features and disguise you're least favorites.
Makeup does not need to be complicated or intricate. If you think you don't have time for make up in the morning, you're wrong. You can get by with a few simple basics that take less than 5 minutes to accomplish. Remember, your face is the first thing you greet people with and in order to get ahead and make the best impression possible, it's a good idea to get to know your face and what makes it tick. We're all knockouts, we just need to learn how to bring out our inner bombshell.
The first thing you want to experiment with is foundation or powder. It's very important to determine the right color for your skin-type and also switch it up if any one particular foundation or powder makes you dry, oily or causes a break out.
My personal habit is simple. I apply a make-up stick one shade lighter than my actual skin color to any imperfections on my face; red marks, blemishes, etc. Then I take a bronzing powder and lightly apply using a large blush brush. Everyone looks great with a light sun-kissed glow and this technique is as easy as it is quick.
Never use a darker make up stick than your skin tone because if your using it to cover blemishes or imperfections on your face, it's going to do the complete opposite by accentuating them.
Next choose a blush which compliments your skin. You can always try different shades at a makeup counter in order to determine the best shade for you. Never apply too much blush. Blush is used to accentuate your cheek bones and give you that sexy, slightly flushed look. Your blush should also compliment your foundation, powder or bronzer perfectly. You may take a few tries to find the best color combinations but once you do, you'll notice that your look will be flawless and very easy to create each day.
Keep in mind that as the seasons change, so will your skin. You can switch up from powder to foundation or vise versa if your skin is feeling too try or too oily.
The key with foundation is to apply it property. If your foundation is cakey or is not blended exactly, it will look like clown makeup. Personally, unless you have many imperfections on your face that you'd like to conceal, I would stick to a make-up stick for the small ones and a powder or bronzing powder. It gives you that fresh look that women and men swoon for.
The order in which to apply your makeup should be the following: eyes, face, lips. This order works best because sometimes eye makeup can get on your cheeks or mascara can smudge under your eyes. If you've already applied your face makeup, then removing the unwanted eye makeup from your face will be a chore. Lipstick should be last because when your applying makeup you don't want foundation or powder going onto your lips. You also wouldn't want to smudge your lipstick onto the side of your face.
